When you take a reading you only note down the number of kWh that register - yu do not include the partial kWh at all. 63913 - 63310 = 603 units (b) If electricity coats 5.5p per unit, how much does this amount of electricity cast (to the nearest penny)? 5.5p x 603 = 3316.5p = £33-17 (c) If there is a standing charge of £0.26 a day, what is the total bill for the quarter? Number of days = 30 + 31 + 31 = 92 0.26 x 92 = £23-92 for standing chage Total = £33-17 + £23-92 = £57-09 (d) How do you think the bill for the next quarter would compare with the bill for this quarter? Give a reason for your answer. The next winter will include colder days and longer nights, therefore electricity use will increase and the bill will increase. (Total 6 marks) |
