The Daleks have invaded Earth. They use a different temperature scale from us. It is based on a common substance found on their planet that is not found on Earth. It has a melting point of 0oD and a boiling point of 1000oD.

 

On Earth the Daleks scale of temperature measures

the melting point of pure ice to be 100oD

and the boiling point of pure water to be 500 oD
