Heat Questions - GCSE LevelQ18. Hermione investigated the insulating properties of newspaper. (a) The diagram shows the apparatus she used.
Her results are shown in the graph below: Describe a method the student could have used to obtain the results shown in this graph. This type of question is marked in two ways: - the examiner looks for relevant points - but also for a logical sequence... It is not just a 'tick fest' - but a marker does look to see how many relevant points you have made, then considers how you have strung them together to put your answer into a 'level'
Examples of physics points that should be made in the response:
[6 marks] (b) Hermione could have used a datalogger with a temperature probe instead of the digital thermometer. This diagram shows the readings on the digital thermometer and the datalogger. The datalogger records 10 readings every second. Hermione had considered using a temperature probe and datalogger, but decided not to. Explain why it was not necessary to use a temperature probe and datalogger for this investigation. The digital thermometer and the datalogger both have the same resolution Hermione only needed to measure the start and end temperature or only need two readings or only need to calculate the temperature change [2 marks] (8 marks total) |
